Just in: Álava off

Stage two of the Tres Días de Álava has been cancelled.

The race was well underway when the organizers took the bold step of annulling the stage. Approaching the finale in Vitoria, the peloton somehow managed to take the wrong direction. The organization then deemed the four loops in the city centre the peloton were supposed to do before crossing the line to be unsafe, and decided to call it a day.

Some of the riders have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure. Mikel Aristi of Debabarrena called the stage "the worst day ever on a bike", while Naturgas' very own Karl Baudron said "a number of incidents meant the stage had to be cancelled".
