Official press release from Euskaltel

Euskaltel today posted the following press release on it's homepage: "After the Spanish Cycling Federation confirmed the positive test of cyclist Mikel Astarloza, the team wants to make it absolutely clear that it will follow the UCI's regulations for cases like this. After this inconclusive decision, we've supported the rider for a long time in the hope that he could prove his innocence. After he's completed his suspension, which ends on the 26th of June 2011, we hope that the cyclist can return to competition."

What?!? What's "inconclusive decision" supposed to mean? A return to competition will certainly not do Euskaltel's already-diminishing credibility any good.

Huge mistake by them, what the hell are they thinking with? The only thing they get out of this behavior is damaging the sports reputation, setting unnecessary question marks over the anti-doping work. Way to go, Euskatel!

Mikel is a simple cheater, deal with it...
