Giro return beckons for Euskaltel

Many Euskaltel fans are disappointed the team have decided against participating in the Giro d'Italia the last two years. I'm one of those who thinks it's a wise decision though, but Igor González de Galdeano has said the team WIL return to the race in the future. "This year's Giro would have been good for Igor Antón", Galdeano admitted. "But with the team we've got we're not capable of going to Italy and we had to decide not to race. But we'll be back. Igor Antón and Samuel Sánchez both want to do the race". Of the three GTs, the Giro looks to be the one best suited to Igor as the race regularly features lots of climbing and little time trialling.

Yeah heard that as well. Logical if you ask me, its a good decision to not race there. I mean, the guys of Bouygues and Cofidis for example are just there to ride with the peloton and join some early breaks, its better to not participate in that case.

But indeed, if both Sammy Sanchez and Fuji are racing in Italy it will be good fun. Although they should also send someone capable of defending the Basque honour to France in July to guarantee participation for the years after of course, though it might not be a huge problem as they have now the biggest French talent in the team with Sicard, which is nice for the years to come.

Long story cut short, I would love to see Igor and Samuel racing in the Giro.
