Antón 7th overall in Romandie

The Tour de Romandie concluded today with a 20,4 km ITT in and around Lausanne. Igor Antón, who, after his win yesterday, was 2nd overall, but today dropped to 7th. Even though he`s probably a bit disappointed about that, a 7th overall in a Pro Tour stage-race is awesome. Igor placed 41st today, while Mikel Astarloza was the best Euskaltel rider with a 33rd place. The result of the ITT was:
  • 33rd, Mikel Astarloza, 1:44
  • 41st, Igor Antón, 1:53
  • 59th, Haimar Zubeldia, 2:18
  • 69th, Amets Txurruka, 2:27
  • 102nd, Gorka Verdugo, 3:10
  • 119th, Iñigo Landaluze, 4:42

Overall, Euskaltel grabbed a nice 6th place in the team-rankings, as the team had 4 riders inside the top-29. Here`s how the Euskaltel riders placed overall:

  • 7th, Igor Antón, 1:51
  • 21st, Mikel Astarloza, 4:11
  • 24th, Haimar Zubeldia, 04:43
  • 29th, Amets Txurruka, 5:10
  • 106th, Gorka Verdugo, 40:56
  • 113th, Iñigo Landaluze, 46:59

Nice to see Amets Txurruka impressing greatly in his first Pro Tour race for Euskaltel. He`s definetely a good bet for the future. Haimar and Mikel also looked promising. Their form seem to be on the right track for the Tour.
