Giro 2007; one for Iban

The Giro d`Italia 2007 route, which will run from May the 12th to June the 3rd, was made official today. The Giro will, like last year, be a climbing-feast. A total of 5 mountain-top finishes will await the riders who take to the start in Caprera. The Giro starts with a TTT in Caprera before heading to the Alps and the Dolomites. The Giro looks tailor-made for a climber like Iban, who has confirmed he will take it on next year. Euskaltel should also benefit from such a mountainious parcours. Though I really like the route, there was one thing I just didn`t understand; why having a rest day after 3 stages?! More info on the Giro 2007 can be found here: http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2007//giro07/?id=stages

I think the reason for having a rest day after three stages is, that it will take a while to get of the island Sardegna. Where the first three stages take place.

Yeah, guess so. But it doesn´t seem well planned. Last year was much the same, with the first rest-day coming early, and the riders clearly didn`t like it. Don`t think they´ll like this either...
